Synopsis A collection of over 350 duotone and hand-tinted photographs by 23 artists.......This book is unquestionably the definitive and best picture book on the band to date!! Published by Henry Rollin's 2.13.61 press, the 9" by 12" volume is elegantly bound in black cloth with silver embossed lettering, and tucked into a heavy matching slipcase. It contains over 350 duo tones and hand-tinted photos, and in the tradition of many other great photograph books, the 336-pages are divided into sections, each one devoted to the work of a 23 different photographer, ranging from very familiar names like Neal Preston, Bob Gruen and Halfin himself to more obscure but no less talented artists like Robert Knight, Jeffrey Mayer and Robert Zagaris. To date this is the only book aside from Richie Yorke's 1976 biography to be officially sanctioned by anyone connected with the band - in this case Page himself, who adds his signature and a brief endorsement This is the best, most representative photo book of Led Zeppelin that I have ever seen. Enjoy it! at the front. ............Here is an excerpt from the book " All photos taken Knebworth Festival August 11, 1979 (my birthday) Loaned the negs to a fan at the time which I never got back. You're naive and stupid when you're young. So as you can see...I don't have much left. After shooting the other acts all day, Zeppelin decided we had to shoot them from about half a mile away. I think this was the band's paranoia. Just before they came onstage, Chalkie Davis (photographer) and I bumped into BP Fallon (Zepp's PR man) who was completely out of his head on speed. We said rather sarcastically, "How about getting them to do a line-up shot before they go on?" and he was like "Oh yeah, great. Not a problem." So we were walked into the inner sanctum and a very friendly Zeppelin lined up for us for about 10 minutes. The only problem was that my flash gun wasn't set properly and all I ended up with them was from the waist down. The top half of the photo blacked out....without a doubt, the greatest screw up of my photographic career. We were told we couldn't shoot live, so after listening to the set from underneath the stage for half an hour, we decided to climb the scaffolding. It took forever. We ended up on a video ramp. A big American came over and screamed "What are you doing? You can't come up here!" We told him Peter Grant had said it was okay and he let us get on with it. And we shot the last hour of the show from there."......."I cannot speak highly enough of this publication. A lavishly produced, superbly presented and packaged 335 page book, divided into 23 chapters each of which features a different photographer's work. The pictures themselves, both color and black/white, are of a consistenty high quality. Covering the entire span of the band's existence, the rare and often-candid images effectively capture the group on and off stage. In particular, several detailed shots of Zeppelin in front of massive stadium audiences are simply stunning - a true reflection of their immense popularity. Thank you Ross Halfin, and good luck to anyone else lucky enough to obtain a copy!" Thank you very much for shopping with us!
