This is an original theatrical Russian movie poster for “I Am Twenty” (originally produced in 1962 as “Ilyich’s Gate” or “
    Zastava Il'icha”
). This classic 1965 Russian film was directed by Marlen Khutsiyev and starred Valentin Popov, Nikolai Gubenko and Stanislav Lyubshin.
“Arguably the most seminal Soviet film of the 60s,” according to the Harvard Film Archive. Only in the last few years have American film institutions and critics begun lauding Khutsiyev, hosting retrospectives and promoting his films to their rightful place within the canon of world cinema. “I Am Twenty” matches the best of the French New Wave in its spirit, its characters and its cinematography.
