First off, let me say that I don't know much about coin values. My late mother had saved these mills (along with many other coin types and denominations) and wrapped them in a type of "Saran wrap". I'm finally into the process of disposing of her coins and bills, and thought I would try eBay before going to a local dealer.
Three RED mills/mils, 1-opaque, 1-translucent, 1-transparent.
I had NO idea there were so many differences in mils. Yes, I remember as a kid that there were different colors, but had no idea what the colors meant, but I was allowed to play with them to keep me amused. Before I list something on eBay, I usually try to do at least some research on the item I want to sell. Boy was I surprised about mills. A mill with a "1" on it meant it was woth 1/10th of ONE CENT. If it had a "5", it was worth 5/10ths of ONE CENT, (or 5 red mills). Sales tax was rounded UP to the next full penny, and the difference between the actual fractional amount and a whole cent was returned in mills. So you could wind up with as many as 9 mills, or as few as 1 mill from a purchase. No, you couldn't buy anything with them- they were ONLY good for paying the fractional tax on future purchases. If your state is like MO, our gas is priced say at .59.9, the second 9 is a fractional number (9/10ths) that was paid for with mills. I wonder what an attendant would say if you paid .99 for each gallon and then handed them a mill. Hmmm?.
I also learned there were 3 distinct types of plastic used when making mills.
1) Opaque- no light passes through mill.
2) Translucent- some light passes through but no shapes are visable through mill.
3) Transparent- more light passes through and some movement can be seen through mill.
This auction is for one of each type. The opaque and translucent mills are bright red, while the "transparent" mill is a darker red in photos. Issued sometime between 1943-1961.

SALES TAX NOTE:
In 2018, the U, S, Supreme Court overturned a long time exemption from sales tax for persons not connected with the taxing jusisdiction. There are over 5000 sales tax jurisdictions in the United States. Many have recently imposed a sales tax obligation on internet sellers and
eBay is imposing and collecting sales tax on behalf of those taxing jurisdictions.
As a seller, I have NO idea whether YOUR jurisdiction taxes internet sales or at what rate. At the end of the transaction your invoice will include the appropriate levy on the sale (and in some cases, the shipping costs as well)
as determined by eBay
, which will be added to the total cost of the auction and will be YOUR responsibility to pay. If you believe the rate to be incorrect, please contact eBay. This is all new to me, and I have NO control over what your State and local jurisdictions levy as a tax.
Please read and adhere to all requirements contained in this listing.

If you see an error in this listing, PLEASE let me know so that it may be corrected quickly.
I will try to answer any and all emails received before auction close, but I may not receive your question in time to reply if you wait until the final 24 hours to ask. Please feel free to contact me using the "Ask Seller a Question" link in the upper right hand corner of the listing.

FEEDBACK:
I am proud of my feedback rating, and got it the old fashioned way, being honest with the people I deal with. I still appreciate your opinions about our transactions, and welcome your feedback.
However, due to the high number of buyers that do not take the time to post feedback upon receipt of items, I feel it only fair, that I will now post your positive feedback only AFTER receiving mine from you. Keep the system working the way it was intended.

However, if you live elsewhere and wish to bid, please ask. Each request will be considered.
