Braided Stainless Shield Ring K-type Thermocouples
Commonly used on 3D printers from Makerbot, Flashforge, CTC, etc
Can replace screw-in stud thermocouples if you have a screw the correct size/thread (these are fairly universal when replacing another K-type thermocouple as long as you have the right hardware to fit through the ring and fasten to the surface you want to measure).
This is a thermocouple and not a thermistor.
Most reprap-style 3d printers are set up for thermistors and will not (easily) work with these thermocouples.

If using on a 3D printer, we recommend adding one or more small washers between the thermocouple ring and the heater block, to prevent direct contact between the heat shrink wrap and the heater block. We have also used them in direct contact, and the heater melted away the portion that is in direct contact and the thermocouple continued to work just fine.
