Here is an extremely rare find.. a genuine and very unique vintage 1969 poster from one of the
earliest
and most successful rock music festivals,
ever!!
It would be almost impossible to find another poster like this one.  All posters produced for sale for this festival were on standard poster paper.  This one is not, it was
printed
(not mounted) on thick cardboard, roughly 2mm or possibly even 2.5mm thick.  This is because this poster was printed for at least one of the promoters, the one whose estate I obtained it from.  So it was a special run, for some of the officers of the corporation.  There may be some others that were printed at the same time, but very few, as these were not meant to be sold to the public.
It does show some aging and wear around the edges, but overall it is still in really nice shape.  It was stored unframed in darkness for most of its existence, so the colors have not faded (fairly common).
It did get bumped around a bit early on.  Now it is inserted snug in a pre-bought frame.
I once took it out once to inspect it but forgot to take photos.  The only wear I noticed was mostly in the corners (creases from bumps), and the edges show some light brown staining, foxing and light wear.  Otherwise, it's very solid and looks great!   From a few feet out, you don't notice anything and just see bold solid colors.
1969 ATLANTA POP
This festival represents a bygone era of the peaceful counter culture period of the late 60's.  This event was actually 6 weeks before Woodstock, but even though it drew a large crowd of 150,000, it would only be about 1/3 the size.  It turned out 1969 would be the peak year by far for rock festivals, and the success of this one led the promoter Alex Cooley to hold the 1970 Atlanta Pop festival the following year.  That one would be considerably more successful and more closely resemble Woodstock with numerous top acts over 3 days and had a total attendance somewhere around 300,000+.
Yet by 1970 things died down and there would be only be a few major rock festivals that whole year with Atlanta being the most popular by far.  Atlanta did something nowhere else did, not even in California, stage an even bigger and more successful reincarnation.  All the 1969 festivals were pretty much one off.  These concerts also put Atlanta on the rock musical map, as apparently at that time the south was avoided by the national touring acts.
It's success is why the Atlanta Pop Festival has become one of the most coveted rock concert festival events and stands only 2nd to Woodstock in popularity.  Atlanta had similar cool vibes and peaceful colorful hippie crowd from that special era.  All the news articles about the Atlanta event were very favorable.  The young hip audience was very orderly and there to have a good time.  They even showed very peaceful tolerance as they braved the harsh heat and sun conditions with limited facilities over that weekend.
It also turned out to be the largest audience that Led Zeppelin would ever play in front of, until only possibly at Knebworth which wasn't until a full decade later.
